The Rentavillas PPS is an option if you desire to accept payments via your website but is only required when you do not have your own merchant account and/or you desire to use the Rentavillas PPS application to handle the routing online transactions from customer entry of credit card information on the web site to the payment gateway continuing on to the credit card company and lastly the coordination of payment and settlement funds to be paid to you.

This description lays out the basics of payment processing. It also helps you appreciate the charges and risks involved in accepting payments.
1. Collecting payment data
Payment details are entered into the payment device or system. They could be entered by a call centre operator, read by a card-reader or entered directly into an internet page.
2. Authentication
Details of the purchase, details from the card and expiration date are sent via the Rentavillas PPS to identify and validate type of card and other relevant information. Rentavillas PPS then forwards details through its payment gateway to the bank or other institution that issued the card. If the details can't be verified, the payment is normally declined and the shopper or payee is asked to use another type of payment.
3. Authorization
Rentavillas payment processing logic connects to the merchant's acquirer, or credit card processor, which verifies that the customer's account is valid and that sufficient funds are available to cover the transaction's cost. At this step, the funds are "held" and deducted from the customer's credit limit (or bank balance, in the case of a debit card) but are not yet transferred to the Rentavillas Payment Processor. At the end of the day, the Rentavillas Payment Processor submit the finalized transactions to the acquirer in a "batch transfer," which begins the settlement process.
4. Settlement of funds
Your Rentavillas Payment Processor account is credited with the value of the card transaction within four working days (depending on the card issuing bank and your agreement with us). Every month, we'll send you a merchant statement which details the transactions processed, and how much you've paid for each transaction.
